君、聞き給うや　　遥かなる地より
来たる五人の　　久しく秘められたる物語を？
帰りしときはただひとり。　他は絶えて
人統（す）べる世に　中つ国を訪（おと）のうことなからん
ダゴール・ダゴラス　　また、宿命（さだめ）の時至るまで。
君、幾許（いくばく）か知らむ　　アマンの地に
西方の諸王の　　密かに集いたるを。
彼処（かしこ）に至る　　かの遥けき道は失われ
死すべき定めの人の子に　　マンウェは語らず。
嘗（かつ）てありし西方より　　微睡（まどろ）む人の耳へ
風はそを伝えけむ、　　夜の影蔽（おお）える
静寂（しじま）に、　　便りをもたらす
忘れられし地　　また、過ぎ去りし時より
数多（あまた）の歳月を越え　　尋ぬる想いに応う。
長上王は　　全てを忘れたるには非らず。

Wilt thou learn the lore.　that was long secret
of the Five that came　from a far country?
One only returned.　Others never again
under Men's dominion　Middle-earth shall seek
until Dagor Dagorath　and the Doom cometh.
How hast thou heard it:　the hidden counsel
of the Lords of the West　in the land of Aman?
The long roads are lost　that led thither,
and to mortal Men　Manwë speaks not.
From the West-that-was　a wind bore it
to the sleeper's ear,　in the silences
under night-shadow,　when news is brought
from lands forgotten　and lost ages
over seas of years　to the searching thought.
Not all are forgotten　by the Elder King.
Sauron he saw　as a slow menace....
