Warner bros. Animationと[[ニュー・ライン・シネマ]]の共同制作として製作が発表された、『[[指輪物語]]』を題材とした劇場公開アニメ。監督は[[神山健治]]。脚本はJoseph Chou、Jeffrey Addiss、Will Matthews。映画『[[ロード・オブ・ザ・リング]]』で脚本を担当したひとりであるフィリッパ・ボウエンも相談役として参加。公開日は未定。
内容は、（『指輪物語』本編で描かれている）[[指輪戦争]]から約260年前に起こった[[ローハン]]における[[槌手王ヘルム>ヘルム]]の戦いにスポットを当てており、[[褐色人]]の侵略に対抗する[[ロヒアリム]]、[[スースブルグ（後の角笛城）>角笛城]]における戦いなど（[[大侵略]]）を題材とするとしている（『指輪物語』 [[追補編]]にこの戦いについての記述がある）。
